Welcome back to the new year in school!

There have been some improvements made over the summer thanks to the extremely hard work of Craig Pearson and his team. We now have a brand new toilet block and cloakroom for the Year 1/2 class which eases the pressure on the existing facilities! A huge thank you must go to Craig as all the work has been carried out in just six weeks. We also have new entrances into class 1 and class 2 which will again help with space issues, so please look out for your children at home if they are in these classes.

The school is very full at the start of the new school year with 92 children now attending! We welcome Amber, Jo-Jo, Aria and Emelie to Nursery; Athena and Varvara to Reception; Evie to year 1, and Seb to year 2. We also say hello to Miss Chant in Class 2. Thank goodness for the extra space…

School is back to normal with the juniors attending the County show today and the KS2 residential on Great Cambrae in a couple of weeks’ time. We also have other events planned, including a start of term BBQ next Friday afternoon, (16th September) so all parents can get together, catch up and say hello whilst enjoying a burger or two. Then pop over to the Heron Hall for the Storth Beer Festival to round off the evening. What could be better? – a burger followed by some real ale or a glass of wine amongst friends! The BBQ starts at 3:00 pm on the playground – I hope to see you there.

Most importantly we would love to have volunteers back in school again to help with anything at all! If you feel you have an hour or even a morning spare and would like to listen to some children read, help with some maths, teach juniors to sew or simply to help create a display, then please just speak to any member of staff. Don’t forget to the PTA bake a cake raffle which will begin next Friday!

Finally, could I just remind you all about the parking issues we face with some of our neighbours and that the Heron Hall car park is available for the school to use? Please try to keep driveways clear especially when things are busy. Thank you.

If you have any questions or queries then please see me at any time.
