Parents and Carers
Welcome to the new school year, we hope that you have had an enjoyable and relaxing break. The children seem excited to be in school with lots of smiles and chatting. This half term we will be learning about ‘Ourselves’, ‘Homes’ and ‘Autumn’, we have lots of fun and great learning opportunities planned over the next few weeks.
- Please ensure that each day your child has a water bottle (please no juice), their book bag and a coat.
- Can your child also have a pair of named wellies in school at all times.
- Children will be able to bring home a library book to share with you at home, they can change these as often as they wish and over the next few weeks some children will begin to bring home reading scheme books. Books can only be taken home in a book bag to protect the books from the weather. If you would like to purchase a Storth School one they are £4 and available from the office.
The children will be doing PE on a Monday and Thursday afternoon, the Reception children will have received their school PE shorts and T shirt.
Please ensure that they have:
- dark tracksuit bottoms and PE pumps in their bag too – along with spare underwear in their PE bag, as accidents do happen!
PE bags are left on the hooks in the conservatory and need to be in school everyday as we may do PE on a different day or your child may need to change if they get very wet or dirty. Any nursery children who are in school on these afternoons do not require a PE kit, we ask though that they wear comfortable clothing suitable for sport and either PE pumps or trainers on that day. We are trying to discourage rucksacks being left on pegs each day in the cloakroom as we do struggle with space and any letters, wonderful creations etc. can be sent home in their book bags.
We understand that most nursery children bring a bag with spare clothes in each day, we are happy for this to happen but if you prefer these clothes can be left at school too.
We realise that children like to bring in a toy from home, we are happy for the children to bring in one toy and in Class 1 we are going to trial a box where these toys can be placed. Children are allowed to play with their toy from home during whole school playtimes and at lunchtime.
We are lucky to have a number of volunteers who come into school regularly, we are very grateful for their valuable help and the children thoroughly enjoy and gain from their being with us. If anyone else would like to come into school regularly or occasionally please do speak to us. We hope that your child has a great time in school, if you ever have any concerns please do speak to us.
